ABOUT SHYAMI

Shyami Selvanayagam is a twenty-two year old who creates photographic pieces that focus within the genre of feminisn, grappling with issues such as body image, how media and society perceive beauty and her own cultural heritage. It was amidst the COVID-19 lockdown that Selvanayagam began to delve more into these themes, especially without the use of a model, pursed self-portraiture. 

 

Born in Melbourne, Australia in 1999, Selvanayagam studied at Killester College High School before going on to studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Photography at Deakin University. She also studied at Chisholm Tafe between 2016 and 2017, finishing a Certificate in Multi Media Two Certificate in Multi Media Three. Selvanayagam has had her work exhibited in a virtual gallery conducted by VPContext.
